About the Project

The World Psychiatric Association Regional Congress, held in Kolkata, was more than just a gathering of experts—it was a collective effort to address mental health awareness across South Asia. Organized by the SAARC Psychiatric Federation (SPF), the conference brought together leading psychiatric societies from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. With the theme “Building Awareness: Bridging the Treatment Gap,” the event aimed to drive conversations on integrating mental health advocacy into mainstream healthcare. Stepping away from traditional promotional content, we developed a unique integrated brand film. A Visual Poetry/ Public Service Announcement on Mental Health was conceptualized, featuring actors portraying emotional narratives, interwoven with real-time preparations of WPA members at ITC Sonar, Kolkata. This juxtaposition of artistic storytelling and structured discourse created a seamless flow between human experience and expert intervention. By intertwining engagement with knowledge, the film became an extension of the congress’s core mission, reflecting the urgent need for awareness, accessibility, and action in mental healthcare across the SAARC nations.
